Heyyyyyy everyone!!! ππ Hope you're all doin' amazing today!!! π I'm super excited to share today's topic with you guys... Like I promised, today we're divin' into the world of writing!!! ππ So, if you're ready to level up your writing game, keep scrollin'!!! π
_Five tips for writing ✍️π»
W- Words( choosing the right words)
R- Research( proper research and fact-checking)
I- Ideas( organising and developing your ideas)
T- Tone (using the right tone and voice)
E- Editing( reviewing and revising)
_Words
Choosing the right words is crucial in writing. It helps convey your message clearly and accurately. The words you choose can help your readers imagine and picture things in their minds. So, it's really important to pick the right words. This way, you can help your readers see and feel what you're trying to say.
Select precise, vivid, and engaging vocabulary. Avoid bland words that put readers to sleep. Instead, pick words that ignite imagination and pop!!π€―
For instance, instead of saying "The π sunset was nice", you could say "The π sunset was mesmerisingπ " or "...was breath taking"π²
Using vivid and description words can make your writing more engaging. Choose words that ✨ spark, not snuffπ₯±.
_Research
This is essential in writing, especially when writing about factual topics. It helps you provide accurate information πand build credibility with your readers. They are able to understand the context properly. For example, if you're writing about the importance of reading EAT blogs, research its benefits for personal and professional development and go through statistics on how blogs increase knowledge and skillsπ
Verify information through multiple sources and in this way, your work will end up accurate, authentic, and credible.
Research Alert⚠
Don't be that writer who puts TEXAS in CANADA( yeah, that's a real mistake. I've made it twiceπ€«) Do your research to avoid geographical goofs and keep your story legitπ΄
_Ideasπ‘
Ideas are like seeds π±. You find them lying around in your brain π§ , pick them up, plant them, and they grow! πΏ—or not.
Organising and developing your ideas is crucial in writing. It helps you structure your thoughts and present them in a logical and coherent manner. If you're writing an essay, you could start by brain storming⛈️π§ ideas, then create an outline to organise those ideas. They help you stay focused and ensure your writing flows smoothlyπ
Need an idea? Ask yourself:
♥︎WHO is the weird neighbour in my story?
♥︎WHAT is the craziest thing that could happen?
♥︎WHEN will the π£ bomb drop?
♥︎WHY should Margaret go behind Alva's back with Ryan?
♥︎HOW will they get out of this mess?!
You know, one thing about ideas is that they pop up ka-boom!!!ππ and then seconds later, they disappear. So you've got to be ready at all times to keep themπ
A writer once said, "I'm not a morning person. I'm not a night person. I'm a 'whenever the coffee kicks in' person.
Well, I'm not a morning or night person either. I'm a 'someone-else's-masterpiece-motivated' person. Give me a great book, movie, or story, and I'll be fueled for weeks!
It doesn't really matter how or when you get your ideas... what matters is that you plant them, nurture them, and watch them grow! π±π‘
_Tone
"Tone is like the difference between 'I'm eating a salad' and 'I'M EATING A SALAD'... same words, different attitude, totally different dinner conversation" π₯π (Unknown quote)
The tone and voice you use in your writing can significantly impact how your message is received. For example, if you're writing a humorous article, you'll wanna use a lighthearted and playful tone. On the other hand, if you are writing a formal business reportπ¨π»π»πππππ, you'll want to use a professional and serious tone. Using right tone helps you connect with your audience and conveys message effectively.
In a nutshell, we need to nail our tone and voice so readers don't think our hero saying "I'm fine" means he's a jerk when he's just politely saying no to his aunt's rides to the market⚖️
_Editing
A friend of mine defined Editing as deleting all the words you loved, and replacing them with words you'll tolerate. But in all honesty, Editing is where the real writing begins. It is a crucial step in the writing process that helps you review and revise your work to ensure it is clear, error-free, and engaging.
When editing, you might check for grammar and punctuation mistakes, ensure your paragraphs flow smoothly, and make sure your writing is concise and easy to understand. It helps you refine your writing-makes it best-100%
Now that you've read this, I'm almost certain we would stop reading writings with editing mistakes that make us wonder if the writer's keyboard is not alright or if the writer had a personal fight with grammarπ«✏️
